Life has been SO busy lately! James and I are working around the clock on our new home construction, our jobs, and trying to manage a few minutes a day to live a healthy and active lifestyle. I swear the two of us never sit down, never have a moment of calm, or just a minute to breathe and relax. So when I stumbled across this photo I had to take a moment to reflect on the last few years and what a journey and adventure life together has been. I must say, I am so blessed to be married to my best friend and I wouldn’t trade this crazy life I lead for anything.
Remembering this day and this place 2 years ago. I took this before James and I hiked to the top of that volcano. I really shouldn’t even use the word hike, it was more like climb! The terrain was rough and rugged. The slope was incredibly steep. All along the way when I wanted to stop and turn around my babe kept pushing me to keep going. His encouragement and support got me to the top of the mountain. He promised me it would be worth it and although I didn’t really believe him I begrudgingly kept moving and kept climbing. 4 hours later we summit at the top, and yes the view was worth it. It was spectacular. It was beautiful. But the best part was the man on one knee before me, asking me to pledge my life to his. It was perfect. He didn’t care that I was filthy and sweaty from a hard hike and I probably hadn’t washed my hair in 3 days. I didn’t care that he stepped in a huge pile of mud when he got down on one knee splattering it all over the both of us. I should have known that moment would be a reflection of life for us. That it isn’t always easy, is consistently challenging, sometimes a little dirty and messy, but always worth the effort and absolutely an adventure. That’s our life, and our love for one another that gets us through anything. The love, that’s the magic that makes every single moment spectacular.
This trip really was spectacular, even for more than getting engaged. Costa Rica is a beautiful place and there are some amazing places to stay, eat, and explore. By far our favorite was Nayara Resort and Spa in Arenal. In fact it was just ranked the # 2 hotel in the world and the top 5 most romantic hotels in the world! Crazy to think I’ve stayed there! The rooms and amenities are extraordinary, you can do yoga in a tree house every day, and the food is incredible. There are tons of activities locally, from hiking, mountain biking, zip lining, and even white water rafting. Costa Rica has it all! I will definitely visit again!
